TL; DR: Is there a way to manually activate 4G by calling Verizon or...? To my knowledge, all Verizon 4G LTE phones don't allow you to dial *228 at all because of that particular issue.
International roaming minutes are billed as separate minutes of use, and they can get pretty pricey.
When I bought my s3 the day before it arrived I went to my Verizon store they sold me one for 9 dollars. So if it's still not fixed after flashing the new mf1 build ROM and mf1 baseband, do you think it's something else?
Also *228 no longer fries the sim it doesn't update either it just loads the activation from the sim.
You can see a map of Verizon's coverage area on their website. It is always recommended to check your specific policy before turning roaming on.
US wireless roaming is free on all nationwide Verizon Wireless plans.
